So for the third quarter in Mr. Masson's media class, we as a class have decided to take on quite an incredible challenge. This was not a task for the faint of heart, but rather one for our optimistic, diverse, and strong willed media class! As a group I feel that many of us butt heads over every little minutiae, however when we finally come to a census, the end product usually turns out great. I feel like our school is definitely a rare sweet spot for a project like this. Seeing as there are only 500 or so kids, it was considerably easy to fish out our lucky candidates for the advertisements. Also, in a normal size school, a media class the size that we have might even be non-existent, so an assignment like this would never even be considered.

Over the last few weeks I've unfortunately started to realize how influential the media can be. We can't escape it, advertisements plague our television, internet, and even our schools. The impressionable teens that we are are being force fed faux necessities, and led to buy into stereotypes. "Hey you gangly nerd, buy our Bowflex and get jacked for the ladies!". I've also learned to never trust any ad again after I was shown what the program Photoshop can do to someone. A not-so-attractive woman can be magically transformed into a goddess with a click of a button, and us American's would be none the wiser. Photoshop: Tool of Destruction. . . . Ironically, it was quite enjoyable using it to form our advertisements.

Are we going to eliminate stereotypes? Absolutely not. However it's out hope and dream that the Common Man will glance at our hard work and perhaps stop and think twice.
